Ventura County Appliance Removal Done Right

Old appliances are the heaviest, most awkward items in your house. A standard refrigerator weighs 200 to 300 pounds. A front-loading washer is even heavier. Try getting one of those down a narrow hallway, through a doorframe, and into a truck without a crew that knows what they're doing. That's before you even figure out where to take it — because your curbside trash service won't pick it up and most recycling centers require you to bring it to them yourself.

The Junk Wizards handles appliance removal from start to finish. We show up with the right equipment and enough muscle to move refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, ranges, microwaves, water heaters, and window AC units out of your home safely. We protect your floors, doorframes, and cabinets during the removal. Then we haul everything to the Simi Valley Recycling Center or another certified facility where metals, compressors, and components get properly recovered.

Refrigerators and freezers contain refrigerants that have to be handled by licensed professionals. You can't just roll an old fridge to the curb and hope for the best — it's actually illegal in California to dispose of refrigerant-containing appliances improperly. Our disposal chain ensures refrigerant recovery is done right. The Ventura County Household Hazardous Waste facility on Olivas Park Drive in Ventura also accepts certain appliance components, and we coordinate with them when needed.

Kitchen remodels are one of the biggest drivers of our appliance removal calls. A contractor rips out the old stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator, and suddenly you've got three large appliances sitting in your garage or driveway that need to go somewhere. Or maybe you upgraded to a new washer and dryer set and the delivery team wouldn't take the old ones. Either way, one call to (805) 316-1610 gets them gone — usually the same day.

We serve the entire Conejo Valley, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Camarillo, Ventura, Oxnard, and all of western LA County including the San Fernando Valley, Calabasas, and Agoura Hills. Being based in Thousand Oaks means we're never far from any of these communities. Same-day and next-day appointments are the norm, not the exception.

Working appliances in good condition don't have to go to a recycling facility. If your old washer still runs fine but you're upgrading, we can drop it at Goodwill, Salvation Army, or another local donation center. Giving a working appliance a second life is better for everybody — someone gets a washer they need, and one less appliance ends up being scrapped. Just let us know the situation when you call and we'll make the right call on where it goes.

How Appliance Pickup Works

1

Book Your Appointment

Call (805) 316-1610 or book online. Let us know what appliances you need removed, where they're located in the house, and whether they're still connected. We'll confirm availability — same-day and next-day slots are often open.

2

We Disconnect & Remove

Our crew shows up with the right tools and equipment. We carefully disconnect the appliance from water, electric, or gas lines (basic disconnects only — gas lines should be handled by a plumber beforehand). We protect your flooring during removal and get it out of the house without a mark on the walls.

3

Proper Disposal at a Certified Facility

Appliances go to the Simi Valley Recycling Center or another certified disposal facility. Refrigerants are recovered by licensed professionals. Metals and components get recycled. Working appliances in good shape can be donated to local charities instead.

After 2 no-shows from other companies I contacted Justin this morning and he picked up my stuff in the afternoon the same day! He is courteous, professional and punctual. Very professional. Please don't hesitate to call him. He's great!

Frequently Asked Questions

We do. Refrigerators and freezers with refrigerants get taken to a certified facility where the refrigerant is properly recovered before the unit is recycled. California law requires proper refrigerant handling and we follow every step of that process. Don't try to dispose of a refrigerator on your own — call us at (805) 316-1610.
Our crew handles basic disconnects for most standard electric and water-connected appliances. For gas lines, we recommend having a licensed plumber disconnect the gas supply before we arrive. Let us know the situation when you call and we'll advise on what needs to happen first.
A single appliance starts at $99. Multiple appliances are priced together based on total volume — a full kitchen worth of appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave) would typically fall in the $149–$249 range. A quarter truck runs $149–$249, half truck $249–$399. We give you a firm quote on-site before we start.
Tight kitchens, basement laundry rooms, narrow hallways, upstairs bedrooms — we deal with these regularly. We have dollies, straps, and floor protection to move heavy appliances safely through confined spaces without damaging your home.
We take appliances to the Simi Valley Recycling Center or another certified facility where metals, compressors, and components are recovered. Working appliances in good condition can be donated to Goodwill or Salvation Army instead. We don't just send everything to a landfill.
Water heaters are one of our regular pickups. We handle both tank and tankless models. Make sure the water supply is shut off and the unit is drained before we arrive. If it's a gas water heater, have the gas line disconnected by a plumber first.
Commercial ovens, walk-in cooler components, industrial dishwashers, prep tables — we've hauled it all for restaurant owners and property managers across Ventura County. Commercial equipment is heavier than residential, so those jobs are priced based on weight and difficulty. Call (805) 316-1610 to talk through what you've got.
Sometimes, but many delivery teams refuse to take old appliances — especially if they're in a tight spot, upstairs, or have cosmetic damage. That's when people call us. We don't have the same restrictions. If it fits in our truck, we take it.
Most days, yes. Call (805) 316-1610 in the morning and we can usually get to you that afternoon. We're based in Thousand Oaks and serve the entire Conejo Valley, Simi Valley, and western LA County, so we're never far away.
We handle virtually all household and commercial appliances. The only things we can't take are appliances contaminated with hazardous materials beyond standard refrigerants. If an appliance has been in a flood or fire and has chemical contamination, the Ventura County HHW facility on Olivas Park Drive in Ventura can advise on proper handling.
